$14,400 additional compensation for benefits.

*Description:*
Under supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, performs technical bookkeeping and accounting tasks related to the payroll operations.
Requires a knowledge of payroll and bookkeeping practices and exercising mature judgment in making accounting classification decisions.
*Qualifications:*
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:*
High school graduate or equivalent.
Post secondary training with emphasis on business or accounting strongly preferred.
Two years’ experience in an increasingly responsible accounting or payroll related position involving public contact.
*LANGUAGE SKILLS:*
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to speak effectively to district employees.
*MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:*
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
*REASONING ABILITY:*
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
*OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:*
* Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations relating to payroll functions.
* Knowledge of methods, practices and terminology used in payroll record keeping.
* Ability to operate a personal computer, and have mainframe, database and spreadsheet experience.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
* Ability to perform routine and non-routine duties with strong attention to detail.
* Ability to offer direction to department coworkers and district employees in payroll matters.
* Ability to perform difficult clerical accounting work requiring the use of independent judgment and initiative.
* Ability to prepare financial reports and maintain journals, ledgers and related financial documents.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and rapidly assimilate knowledge of the district’s operations, goals and objectives.
* Ability to meet and work with a variety of individuals of various levels of influence in a professional, positive and cooperative manner.
* Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board policies.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
